Hawk-Eye has acknowledged a "human error" in the decision-making process during the match between Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United in the PSL. The incident occurred on the final ball of the 11th over, when Gladiators' skipper Rilee Rossouw was given not out after being initially adjudged lbw by umpire Aleem Dar. While the review showed the impact outside off, indicating the on-field decision was incorrect, it was later revealed that incorrect ball-tracking data was displayed, leading to the wrong outcome.
A PSL media release stated that Hawk-Eye admitted the error, clarifying that the system had correctly tracked the delivery for the Decision Review System (DRS) but an operator error led to the display of incorrect data. The correct tracking data became available moments after the incorrect data was shown, prompting Hawk-Eye to express regrets for the error.
Despite this controversy, Gladiators went on to win the match by three wickets, chasing down a target of 139 in the penultimate over. Rossouw's unbeaten 34 off 38 balls earned him the Player of the Match award.
However, Islamabad United's captain, Shadab Khan, expressed his dissatisfaction with the incident during the post-match presentations.
